Vestre Bolæren lies on one side of Jensesund. In the former workshops you will find “Ladestasjonen Sommer Kafè”, holiday cabins, the clubhouse of Jeger- og Fisk and Minemagasinet with coastal culture, a guest harbour, beaches, a camping area, a Viking camp, a Bronze Age burial cairn and a coastal trail.
At Kalvenga there are fine beaches and a camping area. On top of the island there is a Bronze Age burial cairn.
People have lived in Jensesund since the 1700s. After many years of military use the Armed Forces released Bolærne in 2005.
Many small buildings recall the time when soldiers walked around here, and inside the mountain there are three through tunnels and a wealth of rock halls.
We gladly stop at Ladestasjonen café for a rest and a bite to eat. If we are lucky we may also get a look into the southernmost tunnel.
We stop at Vestre Bolæren on all our RIB event boat trips
